In the envelope: A chocolate coin
Then came the Festival of Dedication at Jerusalem. It was winter, and Jesus was in the temple courts walking in Solomon’s Colonnade.
John 10:22-23
Happy Hanukkah! This is the Jewish Festival of Light. As Christians, we do not usually celebrate Hanukkah. Instead, we celebrate our own festival of Light – a celebration of the coming of the Light of the World. We should remember, though, that Jesus came to us as a Jew, and He celebrated Hanukkah Himself. As you eat your gelt tonight, do some research online to find out the significance of the menorah, the dreidel, and the chocolate coins.
And then watch my favorite Hanukkah video ever.
(Note: Hanukkah actually started last night at sundown, but my Western calendar mislead me. So this is about 24 hours late. Sorry.)
